She was a member of the Southern Baptist faith and an active member of First Baptist Church in Baytown, from 1938-2009, when she moved to Sugar Land, TX. She then became an active member of the church in her new retirement community. She was devoted to God and diligent in her studies of the Bible. She was a very loving wife, mother, and nana. Sylvan was most well known for her gracious, spunky spirit as well as her contagious smile and great southern cooking.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A Douglass; daughter Phyllis Simpson and husband Clois; sister Irene Pittman and husband John; and brother Charles Harris.
She is survived by her granddaughter Karri McIntyre and husband Curt; great granddaughter Britni Psenka and husband Robert; great great grandson Nico Psenka; nephew Chuck Harris and wife Charise; and nephew Kyle Harris and wife Cindy.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
