Thelma L. Alex

January 13, 1914November 10, 2010

Thelma Townsend Alex, 96, has gone home. She slipped away peacefully on Wednesday evening from the family that surrounded her into the loving arms of those who went before her -- her mother, her husband Tilton, her sister Bernice, her grandson Paul Jr., her son-in-law Paul Sr., and her only child Gloria Alex LaChapelle. She leaves behind five generations to celebrate the magic she gave us through her music, her stories, and her remarkable ability to find humor in the worst of situations and good in the most difficult of people. We are blessed to say that her stamp is on our souls, her laughter in our ears, and her enduring love enough to carry us through. She is survived by her grandchildren Michael LaChapelle, Joseph LaChapelle, Margret Sonnier, and Juliette LaChapelle and their respective spouses Barbara, Eleita, Clayton and Martin (Runciman), by her great-grand children Joseph, Amanda, Danielle, Alicia, Michael, Chelsea, Dylan, Paul, Jonathan and Rhys, and her great-great-grand children Amaya and Harry. The visitation (9:30 am) and funeral (10:30 am) will be held on Friday, Nov. 19th at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 827 Sheldon Rd., Channelview, TX and the Burial Service (3pm) at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lake Charles, LA. Arrangements under the direction of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, Baytown, TX.

A true Matriarch has left this world. I enjoyed visiting her at Legend Oaks. She was kind, loving and an inspriation to those around her. I know she is happy with both her mother and with Gloria as she often spoke of them. Peace be with you

We are thinking of you all over here in Denmark - Going home what a wonderful thing, though we know she will be missed by you. May the spirits of those who have gone before her be celebrating her return.

I loved Ms. Thelma, when working with her during activities. I always tried to get her to play BINGO. My room visits were very interesting to say the least. I had not been back to see her in about a year but I know she is "home" where she always told me she wanted to go.
