Thomas had a career in Chemical Engineering for Shell Oil and Phillips 66. He always loved helping out with the annual Christmas Children’s Toy Charities and enjoyed Drag Racing, having a few beers with family and friends, socializing at his local favorite bars, and seeing his grandsons grow into adults.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Lynn Byrd, and his parents Roy and Geraldine Byrd.
He is survived by his daughters, Tiffany Byrd (of Mont Belvieu, Texas), Jennifer Byrd and Chuck (of Mont Belvieu, Texas); his grandsons, Logan DeVazier (of Mont Belvieu, Texas), Jaxyn Marquez and Adalyn (of Livingston, Texas); his brother, Bill Byrd and wife Betty (of Channelview, Texas); his sister, Patricia Callaway (of Oakdale, Louisiana), and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and close Friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 - 10 am, Friday, January 26, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX 77521. Funeral service will begin at 10 am. Committal will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery, in Baytown, TX. Everyone is welcome to come to cemetery for committal, but the family does not want anyone to feel obligated to attend.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Logan DeVazier, Jaxyn Marquez, Chuck Cunningham.
Following the committal at the cemetery whomever would like to join we will gather at Jennifer Byrd’s house, 4202 Texana Dr, Baytown, TX 77523.
