

Longtime banker, civic leader, and community volunteer Tommie Jones, 81, of Baytown was born September 20, 1931 in Bryan, TX and passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 in a local hospital. He retired from Baytown State Bank in the 1990s and was then invited out of retirement to help establish Gulf Coast Bank (now Texas First Bank). He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and was honored in 2006 as The Baytown Sun Citizen of the Year. He served on the citizen advisory groups for bond issues and the Lee College Small Business Development Center. He was a member of the Baytown Kiwanis Club, Baytown Heritage Society, Texas Exes of Baytown, Goose Creek Masonic Lodge # 1192, Baytown Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, Baytown and La Porte Chamber of Commerces, and the Baytown Senior Softball League.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas H. ""Casey"" Jones, Sr. and Annie Hajek Jones; 1st wife, Billy Jean Jones; 2nd wife, Annelisa Meyer Jones; and brother, Gene Jones. He is survived by Judi and her three daughters; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Brandy Jones of Bluff Dale, Charles R. and Susan Jones of Kermit, and Darryl and Karen Jones of Boynton Beach, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and John Reidy of Houston, Nancy and Roger Quayle of Denver, CO, and Lindy and Darrell Fortenberry of Clear Lake; sister and brother-in-law, Noreen and Charlie Booth of New Caney; aunt, Albina Elliott of Baytown; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, October 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 3811 N. Main, Baytown, TX 77521 with Rev. Mike Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Daspit, Joseph Jones, Jon Pfennig, Mike Wilson, David Kadjar, and Dennis Krolczyk.
