Tyrone served his country in the US Navy as a boiler's mate aboard the USS Kitty Hawk while stationed in San Diego, California and during the Vietnam War. After serving his country he returned to Houston, TX where he began his career in the transportation field which became his professional passion and love.
He first started working for Houston Shell and Concrete as a driver then moved to Cory Transport as a Heavy Haul Transport Driver, Estimator, Superintendent and Manager. During his tenure with Cory Transport he gained a vast knowledge of the operation and schematics of the then, new hydraulic transporters that were entering the transportation world.
Tyrone retired from Joe D. Hughes/KBR after 36 years of service. Positions held during this time were Driver, Pusher, Superintendent, Estimator and Manager of the Heavy Haul Transportation Department. During these years he gained the respect of clients and competitors as well as his co-workers for his growing knowledge and integrity in the field of transportation along the Gulf Coast.
He concluded his career at Mammoet USA as a Branch Manager/Back Sales Estimator. During his 14 years of employment there he shared his knowledge and experience with anyone wanting to learn the business. Whenever anyone had questions on how to do something or where a certain place was located they were directed to him for the answer, and usually he provided that information. His desire was to pass that knowledge on so the industry would keep growing and be the mainstay for years to come. He treasured the dedication, loyalty and love from his extended Mammoet family but especially the trust given him.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Methodist Houston and San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, Tyrone's many doctors and nurses for his comfort and care, especially Drs. Barbandi, Chris Hays, Eric Pedan and Jacobo Nurko, and everyone from Texas Home Health, Quality Dialysis and Fresenius Dialysis Center.
Special thanks to his home dialysis nurse, Tracy Willet; you will forever be in our hearts.
A very special thank you to friends and extended family at Mammoet. Your support, concern and help made this past year one that will never be forgotten. To management ""Thank you."", which seems so small, for believing and supporting us during this difficult time.
