Verna Beatrice Hobbs Sledge, 91, of Highlands, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. She was born May 28, 1927 in New Waverly, Texas to the late Charles and Nannie Hobbs. She was a member of the former Wallisville Road Church of Christ. She worked in the floral industry in the Highlands and Baytown area for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Sledge; sisters, Ruth Paulsel, Lucille Davis and Virginia Culberson and brother, Luther Hobbs and son-in-law, Robert Peach. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Peach of Highlands, Texas, Darlene D’Olive and husband Buz of Baytown, Texas and Lisa Zunker and her husband Gene of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Eric D’Olive and wife Kami and Brittany Ellwood and husband William; Great-Grandchildren, Jacqueline, Elise and Louis D’Olive and Vivienne Ellwood; brother Raymond Hobbs and his wife Anna of Baytown, Texas. A special thank you to the professional and caring staff of St. James House and Dr. Fernando Sarti for his many years of care. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, May 13th in the Chapel of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road in Baytown. A funeral service honoring Verna will be Tuesday, May 14th at 10:00am at Earthman. Interment will be held at 3:00pm at East Sandy Cemetery in New Waverly.

I remember Verna Bea having a florist shop in Highlands. She always took care of all of my needs. It was a blessing to know her. She was always so sweet and kind. May she Rest In Peace.
