Vernon Duane Munson

Vernon Duane Munson, 79, of Baytown was born November 11, 1931 in Ace, TX and went to be with his Lord Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired from the Deer Park Shell Refinery with 36 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Munson and Velma Munson Bender; stepfather, Robert Bender; brothers, Jerry Wayne Munson and John Robert Munson; and best friend, Charlie Liles. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Munson of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Charlie Mills of Del Rio and Linda Diane and Johnny Downs of Baytown; son, Michael ""Corky"" Munson of Wallisville; brother, G. T. ""Tex Munson of Baytown; sisters, Lois Corner of Anahuac and Ruth Ann Schnell of Spring Branch; grandchildren, Jason Elliott, Jana, Ashley, and Jared Munson, and Faith Hansen; and great grandchildren, Kayla and Krista Schneiderman, Jayse Munson, and Kaydence Talbot.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarcrest Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Norris officiating.
