January 26, 1938 – July 4, 2025
It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Virginia Ann Frazier Watkins on July 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her as a spirited, strong-willed woman.
Virginia was born on January 26, 1938, in Glenmora, Louisiana, and moved to Baytown, Texas, in 1957 with her beloved husband of 66 years, Harold Franklin Watkins of Bogota, Texas.
In her younger years, Virginia had a passion for sewing and was active in her community as the treasurer—and later president—of the Baytown Roughriders. She also had an eye for sparkle, working as a diamond expert at several local jewelry stores.
She found joy in many things: horse racing with her husband, “Pop” and grandson Mikah, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events and livestock shows, late-night phone calls with her best friend Peg and sister Marie, and never missing a chance to root for her beloved Astros. A true lover of country music and an enthusiastic shopper, Virginia stayed fiercely independent—driving and grocery shopping on her own until just months before her passing.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Franklin Watkins; her parents, Walter Henry and Sybil Carter Frazier; her brother, Walter Henry Frazier III; her brother-in-law, Bill Bevil; and her great-grandson, Jax Dean.
She is survived by her loving family: sister, Marie Bevil; son, Steven Watkins and his wife, Donna; daughter, Susan Watkins Martin; grandchildren: Mikah Watkins and his wife, Courtney, Jenna Dean and her husband, Jeremy, Claya Watkins, Stali Hahn and her husband, Justin, and Lynsie Martin; great-grandchildren: Brooke Watkins, Breezeleigh Willis, Shevy Martin, and Axle Tankersley; nephew, Billy Bevil, his wife, Lucy, and their daughter, Jessica; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who was part of her life and shared in her journey.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Virginia Watkins will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM at: Second Baptist Highlands Church, 400 E. Wallisville Rd., Highlands, TX 77562
In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to Second Baptist Highlands Church.
