

Vivian Tharp Walker, 92, of Baytown, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 30, 2010. She was born in Junction City, KS, to Dr. Roger Tharp and Myrtle Mae (Mooney) Tharp on July 9, 1918. She grew up in Mansfield, LA, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1934. She continued her education at the University of Louisiana-Nacogdoches, where she earned a B.S. degree in 1939. She was a Physical Education teacher when she met and married Stuart Walker on July 8, 1945. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, listening to country music, and she especially enjoyed watching the Astros.
Vivian was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Mont Belvieu, where she actively served in choir, as a teacher and a member of the Baptist Women; she also was a member of the D.A.R.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 37 years, Stuart Walker and a sister, Elsie Tharp.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Whitener and husband David (Butch); sons, Dan Walker and Tim Walker; grandchildren, Staci Whitener and fiancée Eric Bolton, Brian Holliday and wife Charlotte and Angela Guthrie and husband Mike; great grandchildren, Jade Bourque, Cohen Bolton, Abbey Holliday, Ashlyn Holliday, Mitch Guthrie and Carter Guthrie; sister-in-law, Melba Ross; brother-in-law, Bill Bacle, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of RHC of Baytown for their loving care for nearly three years.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Earthman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Earthman Funeral Home, with Rev. Jake Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with the deacons of First Baptist of Mont Belvieu serving as pallbearers.
