

W. I. “Tex” Haltom, 90, a resident of Baytown, TX since 1929 was born June 12, 1915 in Nacogdoches and passed away at home Sunday, May 7, 2006. He was a 60 year member of the Pipefitter’s Local #211 and a member of the Woodmen of the World, Willow Camp Lodge #1922. He worked on the first atomic bomb, owned the first taxi service in Baytown, was a rancher in Harris County for over 50 years and was a charter member of the Baytown Youth Fair and Livestock Association.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery near Corrigan with Pastor Jerry Hovater, Pastor David Hilton, and Chaplain Don Caubler officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Jeffrey, Alan Jeffrey, Justin Herrington, Ricky Graham, Colton Graham, Chase Graham, and Ty Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ima Haltom and is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Georgia Della Haltom; son and daughter-in-law, Weldon Jr. and Kathy Haltom; daughters and son-in-law, Lavon Herrington, Alice and Mike Jeffrey, and Della Haltom; sister, Lois Lewis; grandchildren, Alan, Jerry, Kellie, Elizabeth, Mary, Gloria, Bonnie, Justin, and Randi; and great grandchildren, Carson, Jasper, Mayce, Parker, Bryan, Dalton, Zachary, Destie, Kaylyn, Kathryn, Chase, and Colton.
