Wade Townsend, 82, of Baytown was born April 20, 1935, in Lanett, AL and passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, in Houston. He graduated from Lee College with an Associate’s Degree and was a U. S. Army veteran. He retired from Occidental Chemical Corp. with 35 years of service and was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was also an avid coon hunter and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred Douglas and sister, Montine Parmer. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrtis Townsend of Baytown; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Bonita Townsend of Dickinson, ND and Tommy and Ramona Townsend of Cove; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Scott Griffin of Mulvane, KS and Deena and Darrell Dempsey of Spring; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Martha Townsend of Cypress; sister, Royleen Nichols of Abilene; grandchildren, Christopher Stringer, Rebecca Hayworth, Renee Mora, Kendra Gasper, Merisha Gore, Robin Rutherford, Austin Townsend, Tyler Townsend, Brooke Townsend, Lauren Wilson, and Kevin Anderson; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Parmer officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Miller, Austin Townsend, Tyler Townsend, Keven Anderson, Darrell Dempsey, and Michael Wilson.
