OBITUARY

Wanda S. Asbeck

January 20, 1944August 28, 2020

Wanda Sue Roebuck Asbeck of Baytown and Highlands, Texas passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020. She was born in Call, Texas to William Jesse Roebuck and Buris Kelley Roebuck. Wanda is now rejoicing in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Billy Jean Roebuck Isabell, Betty Yvonne Roebuck Lowe, William Jesse Roebuck, Jr., Jesse Earl Roebuck, Jimmy Dee Roebuck, and Robert Lee Roebuck.

Wanda worked in the food service industry for many years and her proudest accomplishment was opening her own tearoom “The Teapot Depot” in Highlands in 1994. Even though it has changed hands of ownership, it always remained a special place for her. More recently she worked for former Constable Ken Jones. She enjoyed serving her community under his leadership and retired from the constable’s office in February of 2018.

Wanda was very social and was a member of the Highlands Chamber of Commerce where she served as president in 2000. In 2000 and 2001, she was selected Highlands Citizen of the Year. She was also an active member of the Highlands Pilot Club and she enjoyed her role as a sister of Beta Sigma Pi Alpha Mu. Wanda is survived by her only son, Andy Jacobs and his wife Nancy; three beloved grandchildren: Price Jacobs, his wife Gabby, and their son (her first great grandchild) Warren Price Jacobs; Georgeanne Jacobs Greene and her husband Caleb; and Trace Jacobs. She also left behind many nieces and nephews and their children all of whom she adored.

A celebration of life visitation is being planned at The Teapot Depot, 112 Denny St., Highlands, Texas 77562, on Sunday, September 20, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Unfortunately, due to COVID19 pandemic circumstances, the visitation will be conducted under the restrictions set forth by Harris County and The Teapot Depot. Masks will be required and social distancing will be expected. The family appreciates everyone’s cooperation.

Such sad news. I remember this dear sweet soul from my years as an artisan at Scarborough Faire... My booth was right across the way. Always so helpful and community minded. I always enjoyed her hugs! I treasure her friendship and am constantly reminded of her kindness when I see her "going away" gift she presented to me when I decided to move to Oregon, back in 1990 . See you on the other side dear Wanda!!!!

This breaks my heart. Wanda was a Friend first & a client of Ed L. Lewis. She has called me regularly since he passed away just to talk & check up on me & our family. She also worked with my Dad & brother till she retired. I will miss her dearly but I know she is having a ball inside the pearly gates. 🙏🏻❤️🌟💐
