

Wanda Fisher Kerr, 80, of Old River, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born August 24, 1928, in Cedar Bayou, Texas, and was currently a member of Old River Baptist Church.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Toby White, Tony White, Trevor White, Chris Johnston, Shane Carter, and Litton Schlabach.
Wanda was preceded in death by her life-long companion and husband of 62 years Donald Kerr. Also preceding her were son, Marvin Schuyler Kerr; parents, Schuyler and Emma Hill Fisher; brother, Ronnie Fisher and sisters, Yvonne Fisher Hawthorne, and Oma Gwen Fisher Saxton.
She is survived by her daughters, Emma Kerr Rush and husband Jim of Tarkington, Donna Kerr Schlabach of Bellville, Ouida Kerr White and husband Steve of Old River and son, Ricki Kerr of Splendora. Also surviving are her eleven grandchildren, Veta Schlabach Johnston and husband Chris, and Leta Schlabach Carter and husband Shane all of Beach City, Litton Schlabach of Bellville, Toby White and wife Tina of Crosby, Tony White and wife Genell of Mont Belvieu, Trevor White of Moore, Oklahoma, Emily Brady of Metarie, Louisiana, Kala Workman and husband Jimmy, and Chuck Ferdinandsten all of Tarkington, Nicki Kerr Ferguson and husband Shawn, and Wendy Bowden Guptill and husband Wayne all of Splendora; sisters, Willa Jo Fisher Reynolds and husband Lyman of Tarkington, Deanna Fisher Holden of Elkhart, Texas; aunt, Myrtle Dugat; twenty-eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was a devoted wife, and matriarch of her family. She was a life-long resident of Chambers and Liberty Counties, who enriched the lives of all those around her. Her overwhelming capacity for kindness and unabashed love of the Lord was an example for all those who knew her. She will truly be missed.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Faith Community Hospice for the care given in her last days, as well as to Nancy Palmore, a caring friend and attendant.
