

William E. “Bill” Farley, 76, of Baytown passed away May 13, 2007 in Fort Myers, FL from end stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was born and raised in Hemphill but lived most of his adult life in Baytown.
He was a U. S. Army WWII veteran, where he served as a member of the Honor Guard to Gen. Douglas MacArthur from September 1949 until January 1951 in Japan.
He attended the University of Texas in Austin, Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, and received a Master’s Degree and a Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Houston. He was a faculty member at Lee College from September 1, 1967 until August 31, 1995, where he retired as Chairman of the Computer Technology Division.
Dr. Farley was a member of the Baytown Rotary Club, having served as Secretary, Treasurer, and President and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Goose Creek Country Club where he loved to play golf and enjoyed his golfing companions.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, June Torrence Farley of Baytown; son, Mark Farley and wife Rita of Cape Coral, FL; daughter, Kathryn Heacock and husband Philip and grandsons William Blake Whitehead and James Oliver Whitehead, all of Houston; cousin, Sarah Butler and her husband Dr. Ernest Butler and family of Austin; and former wife and dear friend, Bebe Farley Denman of Sugar Land.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Goodell officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston.
