William Robert Light

Bobby was born on October 5, 1952, to Don L. and Virginia McBride Light in Baytown, Texas. He was married to Deborah Light for 40 years. They raised four children together, Rhonda, Rachael, Virginia, and René, along with Bobby’s two children from a prior marriage, Stacey and Kimberley. Bobby and his family relocated from Baytown to Dayton, Texas in 1996 and Bobby and Debbie later relocated to Willis, Texas in 2021.

Bobby worked for Gulf Corporation and Chevron Phillips as an operator and shift supervisor for 34 years. He was a member of the Chevron Cedar Bayou Bass Fishing Club and Chevron Cedar Bayou Quality Conference Team Committee. When Bobby’s girls were growing up, he served as coach and assistant coach for numerous girls’ softball teams which were part of the Baytown Girls’ Softball Association, including the Bluebonnets, Cowgirls, and Fear Not.

Bobby most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was passionate about fishing, hunting, and travelling. He had a life-long appreciation of all things history and loved travelling to and visiting historical sites. He had a love of hummingbirds, which was inherited from his father. His favorite sports team was the Dallas Cowboys and he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys True Blue Club.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Don L. Light, his mother, Virginia McBride Light, his son, Robert (“Robbie”) Don L. Light, his niece, Melissa Nicholson, his brothers-in-law, Richard and Terry Nicholson, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Geaslin.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Light, his sister, Carolyn Nicholson, his daughters, Stacey Wensing, Kimberley Carmody, Rhonda Fisher, Rachael Bender, Virginia Light, and René Light, his nephew and wife, Jimmy and Shawn Nicholson, his nieces, Misteé Auippa and Jennifer Voyles, and his grandchildren, Myles, Zoie, Jhayden, Kaylen, Alyssa, Jackson, Jace, Mayson, Adam, Austin, and Laylah.
