

Wilson Mackey Skinner, III, of Baytown, Texas, entered into eternal Glory surrounded by family on May 27, 2023. He was born on January 26, 1936 at the Warren County Hospital in Phillipsburg, New Jersey to Dr. William Frederic and Laura Rebecca Gibson Skinner. Preceding Mackey in death were his parents, his three sisters, Mary Lee Monte, Margaret Florence and Jane Ruth and his stepmother Susan Mirenna.
Mackey is survived by his wife of 67 years, Georgie; four daughters, Wendy Callahan and her husband Michael of Woodstock, Georgia, Tammy Calaway of Baytown, Tracey Anderson and her husband, Gary of Baytown, Amy Goodson and husband, Timothy of Edgewood, Texas, and his son, Robert S. Skinner of Houston; his sister Celeste Renaldo of Denver, North Carolina; his brother William W. Skinner and wife Rita of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mackey was raised in Easton, Pennsylvania and graduated from Easton High School in 1954. After graduation, he attended Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1958.
During his professional career, Mackey worked in the oil refining, chemical manufacturing and environmental consulting businesses. Upon graduation from college, Mackey was hired by Gulf Oil Corporation starting at the Philadelphia Refinery, followed by the Pittsburg Refinery, then to the Houston office and finally transferred to the Baytown refinery where he served as environmental manager. During his tenure at Gulf Oil Corporation, Mackey and a co-worker invented a process for Selective Hydrogenation of Acetylenes that received a U. S. Patent. After 20 years with Gulf Oil, he went to work as plant manager for Chemical Exchange Industries, Inc. and then Southern Refuse. Later, he became an environmental consultant at Pilko & Associates where his assignments enabled him to travel throughout the United States, several provinces in Canada, and many countries in Europe. He retired in 2001.
Mackey was very active in the Baytown community at Faith Presbyterian Church and the Baytown Little Theater. He was a dedicated member of Faith Presbyterian for over 52 years. He served in many capacities, including Deacon, Elder, Finance Committee Member, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. He was also an active member of the Baytown Little Theater for over 50 years and was made an Honorary Life Member in 1993. Mackey served several terms on the Board of Directors. He was involved both on and off stage designing and constructing sets, often appearing on stage and directing numerous plays.
After retirement, Mackey loved playing duplicate bridge, substitute teaching at Barbers Hill Independent School District, working around the yard in Baytown and the family vacation home on the Frio River in Leakey, Texas. He also enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their various sporting events.
In lieu of flowers he requests donations be made to the Faith Presbyterian Church located at 3900 North Main, Baytown, Texas 77521 and the Baytown Little Theater, P.O. Box 2022, Baytown, Texas 77522.
Services will be held on June 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church located at 3900 North Main St., Baytown, Texas.
