Born in Liberty, Texas, on November 19, 1940, Alma was the daughter of the late Paul Stratton and Eula (Thomas) Stratton. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering kindness, and boundless warmth. Known for her love of conversation, Alma was affectionately called “Chatty Kathy” by those closest to her. A nickname that captured her vibrant personality and her remarkable ability to make fast friends wherever she went.
Alma enjoyed playing a good game of cards with her friends, but her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. She cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering love, laughter, and wisdom.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Lowell Sykes; her parents; and her brother, James Stratton.
Alma leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Doug Sykes and wife Angela, and Sondra Marchbanks and husband Ronald; her grandchildren, Michelle Austin and husband Jerry, Christopher Radley, AnnaGrace Lovett, Melissa Marchbanks, Yvonna White and husband Ben, Riley Theriot and husband Josh, and Zack Frausto; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Tolbert, Koltyn Tolbert, Kaylee Tolbert, Penelopy Tolbert, Bailey Jo Radley, Kiley Radley, and Emily Theriot. She is also survived by numerous other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Radley, Tyler Tolbert, Ted Lovett, Mark Ryherd, and Josh Theriot. Ronald Marchbanks will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Alma's life was one filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family and faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8
