Alvin grew up in DeRidder, Louisiana and graduated from DeRidder High School. He attained multiple degrees from both TCU and Lamar University. He served a 4-year tour with the United States Navy, before moving to Texas and becoming a police officer in Hurst, Texas. He moved to Silsbee, Texas, where he would become the Chief of Police for the city. He would eventually retire as a peace officer with Lamar University.
Alvin enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an avid painter and played the guitar. He also liked taking trips to Louisiana for the casino. Alvin was a fun person who love to joke around with others but was serious when he needed to be. He was a fair man, both at work and at home. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always enjoyed watching them participate in school events.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Becky Burleson; his daughters Ashlea Brown and husband Billy of Buna, and Amy Young of Beaumont; his sons Aaron Burleson and wife Casey of Sour Lake, Blake Burleson of Silsbee, and James Young and wife Margaret of Florida; his grandchildren Kennady Porter, Emylea Cole, Kalina Burleson, Olivia Burleson, Payton Burleson, Grayson Young, Kenzie Schroeder, Kyndall Schroeder, Kade Schroeder, Zachary Young and wife Tori, and Colton Brown; and his great grandchildren Beckham and Cash.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Leroy Burleson and Gertrude Burleson, and his sister Judy Stracener.
A Celebration of Life for Alvin will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM at The Art Museum of Southeast Texas, 500 Main Street, Beaumont, TX 77701.
