

February 22, 2026, in Houston, Texas, following a brief illness.
She was born on December 14, 1946, in Horatio, Arkansas, to
Mary Beeson James and Charles James.
Anita was the third of nine children. The James family moved
from Arkansas to Port Neches, Texas where Anita graduated
from Port Neches-Groves High School. She worked for several
insurance agencies and earned a degree in teaching from
Lamar University when her childern were adults.
Anita was a voracious reader, avid bird watcher, accomplished
artist, loyal friend and family member, and devoted dog mom
to Shadow.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Ray Weaver of
Beaumont; children, Marcus Tantillo and wife, Andrea, of
Dickinson; Jason Tantillo and wife, Cathy, of Houston, and
Ranee Weaver and partner, Forest Adams of Livingston; sister,
Debbie Jones and husband, Eugene, of Groves; brothers,
Richard James and wife, Marcella, of Groves; Roy James, of Port
Neches; and Mark James and wife, Michelle, of Huntington;
grandchildren, Jonathan Tantillo and Arica Weaver; and
numerous extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Charles;
sisters, Charlene Martin and Susan Phelps; and brothers, Steve
James and Tony James.
