Barbara Louise Remsen Smith

Barbara Louise Remsen Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and longtime educator in B.I.S.D, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at the age of 85 in her home in Lumberton, TX. Her final service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a time of sharing, fellowship and food at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home building immediately after the graveside service. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

Barbara was born in Lake Charles, LA on April 10, 1928 to Bernard R. and Ruth Remsen. She was a long time member of Woodcrest United Methodist Church in Lumberton. She retired from Beaumont Independent School District after many years as a speech therapist and then a supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Bruce Smith and two sisters: Anne Shaw and Faith Jensen.

Survivors include her son Brian Smith and his wife Deborah of Colmesneil, TX, as well as three grandsons: Shawn Smith, Blake Smith and Brett Smith and five great grandchildren. Also included are a much loved niece and several dear, devoted cousins.
