Today we celebrate the life of Barbara Rea Edwards-Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Barbara passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, in League City, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Clarence and Ocie Mae Boulet and grew up in Beaumont, where she graduated from Beaumont High School in the class of 1955.
Barbara’s life was filled with love, adventure, and dedication to family. After high school, she married and devoted herself to raising her four children, ensuring they had a loving and nurturing home. Once they reached high school, she embarked on a new chapter, working as a receptionist in a dental office before joining Farmers Insurance, where she worked until her retirement.
A true explorer at heart, Barbara lived in many different states, including Texas, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, Montana, California, and back to Texas. She cherished her travels, especially with her family, and found joy in camping adventures to places like Canada, the Grand Canyon, and Disney World. These trips were filled with sightseeing, fishing, and cherished moments by the campfIre. She especially loved watching the sunrise over the Grand Canyon, even if her children were less than enthusiastic about early morning wake-ups.
Barbara had a deep love for music and enjoyed singing in church choirs, filling the hearts of those around her with song. She also developed a passion for coin collecting later in life, actively participating in many coin clubs and serving as secretary. Her dedication led her to attend numerous coin conventions, further enriching her life with knowledge and friendships.
One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making countless precious memories. She adored her two dogs, Bandit and Little Bit, who brought her much companionship and laughter. Family game nights were always special, with Monopoly being a favorite, though she often suspected her son-in-law Johnny of bending the rules in his favor.
Barbara had a generous heart and gave back to her community by volunteering at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she comforted families as they awaited news of their loved ones. Her kindness and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Regal Estates Assisted Living, whose care and support provided comfort to Barbara in her final years.
Barbara is survived by her son Rick Edwards, daughter Kathryn Shults and her husband Johnny, and daughter Kim Stinson. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren–Jenny Maynard, Robert Edwards, Riley Edwards, Krystal Stinson, and Katy Hollingshead–along with twelve great-grandchildren and many other beloved family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Richard Edwards and Jerry Williams, her son Ron Edwards, and her son-in-law Kelly Stinson.
Barbara’s legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. As we remember her today, let us honor her by embracing the same love for family, adventure, and kindness that she shared throughout her life.
Rest in peace, Barbara. You are loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed.
