She is survived by her father, Robert J. Lepage, of Albuquerque, NM, sister Kristi Lepage, of Spring, brother Adam Lepage and his wife Rebecca, of Katy, niece Jensen Kretzschmar and her husband, Simeon, of Hawaii, three nephews, Layne, Tate and Joshua, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Debra Ann Waterman.
Born in Virginia, MN, she moved frequently with her parents and sister before settling in the Houston area in the late 70’s, where her brother completed the family. They began their life in Texas in Baytown but moved to Spring when Becky was 4. She grew up in a loving family with a mother who was completely devoted to her. As a young child, Becky was often ill, requiring several surgeries at Texas Children’s Hospital, where her mother faithfully stayed at her side and made sure she received the best care.
By the time she reached school age, her health had improved and her mother was just as committed to making sure that Becky received an education. Their school district at the time had no program for special-needs children, and Becky’s mother, Debbie, was instrumental in advocating for and implementing something that not only benefitted her own daughter, but hundreds of kids after her. Becky enjoyed attending Klein schools in Spring for several years.
Becky was loved by her entire extended family, and traveled often to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in places like New Hampshire, Maine and Virginia. Her physical limitations didn’t slow the family down one bit; her mother became an expert at hauling her playpen, wheelchair, toys, etc. wherever they went. She particularly enjoyed musical toys and would sing along with whatever tune they played! Her favorite song was “You are my Sunshine”, which her mother sang to her often.
In the early 90’s, Becky relocated to Beaumont. It was a difficult transition for her family, particularly her mother, but it soon proved to be an environment that Becky adapted to and thrived in. The caregivers and other residents of her home became her second family.
Becky loved and cared deeply for those around her and she will be missed by many. Her joyful presence and playful attitude left a lasting impression and smiles on her family and friends. Now she is remade new in the Glory of God and running and singing in the presence of her mother and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Becky's Life will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
