Berniece Ann Verduzco, 76, of Beaumont passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family at her bedside on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her residence. Berniece was born July 2, 1943 to Alex and Helen Hoff in Emmett, ID.
As a child, Berniece enjoyed cattle farm living and traveling throughout the US visiting family and friends, moving to Beaumont 1984. She worked as a registered nurse with Charity Hospital in New Orleans and Covington Medical Center in Covington before retiring as a NICU nurse after 13 years of service with Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. After retiring in 2013, Berniece began working in Home Health Pediatric Care. Berniece had a big heart, and after retiring she shared her love and care with her family and friends. She loved her lap puppy babies. Berniece was a true romantic, dressing up and fixing her hair to church, out to eat, and going to the movies, she even personally hand wrote letters. Berniece really enjoyed life and having a big family to love and share. They were her blessing. Berniece was a faithful member of St. Jude's Thaddeus Catholic Church in Beaumont.
The Celebration of Life of Berniece will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Berniece was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Helen Hoff , and by her husbands Joseph Smyth and Joe Verduzco, her sister Margaret Lafreniere, her grandson Paul Adams, and her son-in-law Paul Adams.
Berniece is survived by her first husband Owen Savell of Sugar Tree, TN; son Michael Savell of Sugar Tree, TN., daughters, Rebecca Mendivil and husband Armando of Berea, KY., Elaine Scott and husband Stephen of Sugar Tree, TN., and Patricia Adams of Vidor, brother Steven Hoff and wife Shirley of Manitoba Canada, brother-in law Joe of Manitoba Canada, grandchildren, Sarah, Beau, Mark, Michael, and Stephen, Jr., two great grandchildren, Beautiful, and Beau, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
