James was born on September 26, 1939 in Rawlison, Arkansas to Cecil and Stella Hood. He had served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Mobil Chemical LDPE Plant. He married the late Patricia Davidson on October 22, 1961 and they moved here from Arkansas in 1976. James enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and spending time with his granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Bobby Hood and sister, Yvonne Egner.
His survivors include a daughter, Terri Holland and husband Matt of Beaumont; 2 grandchildren, Mallory Elizabeth Smith and Chloe Leigh Smith; and his significant other, Frances Yates.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, in the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 1125 Judson Road #150, Longview, TX 75601.
