She moved to Beaumont soon after and lived in the Humble Oil Camp as her father was an employee of Humble Oil Company. She attended Beaumont schools, graduating from South Park High School in 1961 – many of her fellow graduates were her lifelong friends.
She met the love of her life, James Cornelous Boswell, at a Wednesday night church service. He had come to Beaumont to begin his veterinary practice. She was leaving the next day to attend Abilene Christian University. As fate would have it, they would reconnect in the summer of 1962 and a serious romance quickly developed. Told by her father she couldn’t marry until she was 20, she married on April 12, 1963, the day after her 20th birthday! They were blessed with 60 wonderful years of marriage, three children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Tiggie abandoned university study- for a time- for the study of devoted wife and mother. She was an avid and competitive tennis player, bridge and domino partner, cross-worder, bargain hunter. In the 1970’s, she went back to school to obtain a real estate license and began selling real estate. Her competitive nature won her a trip to Acapulco, Mexico. After the birth of Cody, in 1978, Jim asked her to “help out in the office for two weeks.” Somehow, two weeks turned into twenty-five years until she forced him to retire so they could travel.
Throughout her life, Tiggie cultivated deep and lasting friendships. She was very social and loved gatherings of friends and family, There were many picnics, game nights, various reunions, group travels, and shared meals in addition to holiday celebrations.
