Doris grew up in Beaumont with her 3 sisters Marilyn, Carole and Becky, as well as a large extended family. She attended French High School where she excelled academically. Doris worked several retail jobs before marrying Earl Lee Duhon and beginning a family of their own.
After her marriage, she became an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont. When her children were all of school age, Doris went to work as an assistant in 2 different floral shops where her creativity was allowed to shine. She also loved her Red Hatter group and dressing up for those colorful luncheons where the ladies were often the center of attention wherever they went. Doris was well known for her charity work with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. She lovingly crocheted thousands of baby blankets and caps for that special group of newborns for over 25 years and often received an award for the most volunteer hours in a year. Doris and Earl enjoyed many years of traveling all over the country together in their RV, often for months at a time. Before deer season each year, the couple could be found setting up camp on their lease and enjoying time spent with family and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation of Doris' caregiver, Vesta Kimbro. A loving friendship developed between the two women that was a comfort to the entire family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Earl Duhon, Joshua Seymour, James Parsley, Charles Turner, Dylan Turner, and Landon Turner.
