Edith "Inell" Lavergne

She was born on May 27, 1923, in Leesville, Louisiana, to the late Eugene Gobert and Ethel Mae (McCallon) Gobert.

Inell was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and raising her children. Her home was always filled with love, and her family was the center of her life. She also had a creative side and enjoyed writing poetry, with several of her poems framed and displayed throughout her home. In her younger years, she loved tap dancing. Although she never had formal lessons, she had a natural talent for it and enjoyed dancing whenever she had the chance.

Having lived more than a century, Inell experienced many changes throughout her lifetime. Through it all, she remained devoted to her family and the people she loved. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her quiet creativity, and the love she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Ethel Mae Gobert; her husband, Ovey Joseph Lavergne; her son, Ovey Wayne Lavergne; her daughter, Rita Jean Spell; her grandchildren, Shannon Lavergne, Roy Lavergne, and Sharon Gay Lavergne; her sister, Edna Mae Lundberg; and her brothers, Robert "Bobby" Lynn Gobert and Millard A. Gobert.

She is survived by her sons, James "Jim" Lavergne and wife Edna, Ernest "Ernie" Lavergne, and Fred Lavergne; her daughter, Wanda Brown; her grandchildren, Mike Taylor and wife Tina, Frank Spell IV and wife Sara, Melissa Colgate, Rebecca Smith, Jill Dillon, Vince Lavergne and wife Minerva, Angela Brennan and husband Rick, Coy Lavergne, and Doyle Lavergne; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
