We were so shocked to hear of your dad's passing and so sorry we missed the funeral. We have such fond memories of your mom and dad when we lived as neighbors on South Kenneth!  Your dad had called mother and daddy just before his passing and they so enjoyed talking with him. Ken, thanks so much for coming to daddy's funeral. May Christ comfort you both and your families!

"This is Eloise Bryant, Alfred's wife. We just heard of the passing of Ed so suddenly and are truly sorry for the lost, he was a very good friend to Alfred up until his passing last year. I was so happy that he continued our friendship and relationship through phone conversations. He will be sadly missed. Our prayers are with the Barras Family.

Beth and Ken,

I already sorely miss those three to five calls I shared with your wonderful Dad every week for so many years.  Sarrab was a great guy,(as if I'm telling you something you don't already know!} and pray (and know) that he is already where we all hope to be some day.  I cried when I got the news of his passing--- not for him, but for me; because I KNOW where Ole Sarrab is, and hope and pray that I will be there with him some day, to share again his wonderful joyous spirit which he so aptly displayed and shared with all of us before he was called HOME!  Our Meetings Of The Mindless will never be the same without him.

May our Benevolent Lord and Savior be always with you, as I KNOW He was with Ole Sarrab!

Beth and Ken,

Your father was like an uncle to me and I will miss him. He was always on my list to visit with when I came in town. I enjoyed his stories of our Lousiana heritage and that of my grandfather. With great regret, I always wanted to attend the Barras family reunion. He is now with your mother again and may he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about Ed. He was such a delightful man. He always brought a smile to.   my mind when I thought of him.  Sorry I couldn't make the services. Please know yall are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God bring yall peace in this time. I am Ralph s youngest daughter, Delia

What I remember most about my cousin Ed is that he had a story for every occasion.  That and his wonderful personality: always funny, always upbeat, always kind.  He was a pleasure to be around. My world is better for having known him and I'm sure heaven will be a great deal more fun now that he's taken up residence.

Neighborhood memories of the entire Barras Family--- many rocking chair memories with Ed in recent years!!!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Barras' extended family at this time. Ed and Jane were a fantastic couple to know and be friends with down the road!!!

While I only saw Ed, Jane and their family a few times, any time I visited St. Martinville his name always came up. It was always with joy and laughter about fun times and his kindness to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

A twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face, always a story to tell, and maybe even a little guitar picking.  I will miss my godfather.  May you rest in eternal peace with my godmother.

I will never get to hear "Nick, this is Ed" again.  I loved those telephone calls.  Ed was one of my oldest and dearest friends in Beaumont. We had a friendship that has stood the test of time.  He and Jane were bookends to a super family, their kids...Beth and Ken.  I will always cherish my memories and think of Ed often until the day I die.

Ed, better known as "Sarrab" to his high school classmates was such a true, gentle & kind hearted friend. He so loved attending our MINDLESS luncheons and we appreciated him driving all the way from Beaumont, TX to share a meal and talk the good times we had together.  He was so looking forward to attending our Mini High School Class reunion scheduled for June 6, 2013. He loved to talk on the phone and we shared so many phone conversations over the last three years. We will all miss him for we loved him so.  Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers go out to Beth & Ken and Ed's entire family.

I have so many memories of Ed...and of Ed and Jane, two of the nicest people I have ever known.  I am proud to say Ed was my cousin.  I remember summers when Ann and I would go and  spend a week or so at Aunt  Lena's and Uncle Lloyd's...seems like so long ago now but yet still fresh in my mind.  I remember the time we were playing hide and seek and I cut my foot and had to have stitches. I remember walking to the store for ice cream or "strawberry milk" and someone saying it came from "purple cows".  I remember Ed's graduation from St. Martinville High school.  It was held outside in front of the school.  I remember the times we spent the night over at Ed and Jane's on Becky Lane.  How he loved his "property"!  I remember coming to a couple of the Barras's reunions and visiting with cousins and eating wonderful food under the pavilion.  Ed...always gracious, always, kind, always loving to talk about the old times!  I loved just listening to him talk in his slow, easy way.  Sure will miss you, cousin!!! I know the kids, grandkids, and sister's and families will also have many stories to tell each other to keep Ed's memory alive!

Ken and Beth, you and your families are in our thoughts and prayers.  Your Dad had such a great laugh and always a bright smile.  He was a great cousin to my Dad and will be truly missed.
