Elizabeth, or Tizzy, as her friends knew her, was born on July 1, 1934, to John and Naomi Peek of Port Arthur, TX. She was the oldest of three children. Her brothers, Jesse B. Peek III and John Peek, preceded her in death.
Tiz married her high school sweetheart Dick Holmes on August 14, 1952. A very talented seamstress, she created and sewed her wedding dress and was a stunning bride. She and Dick lived across the country as he worked as a Presbyterian minister and then an ophthalmic salesman, spending their last years together in Austin. They had two children, Ginny and Rick.
Tiz worked as an accountant and loved her job. But most of all, she loved people. She made and kept lifelong friends. She loved to play games, sew, garden, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
Tiz was a force to be reckoned with. She stood by her thoughts and opinions, was fiercely loyal, and loved large. She faced many health roadblocks, in later years, but she surmounted them all.
After Dick’s passing, she moved to Beaumont to be near family. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, husband, and two brothers.
A wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother, known as Gram, she leaves behind four granddaughters Kristen Elliott of Baytown, TX, Katie Martin of Beaumont, TX, Angela Neudecker of Franklin, TN, and Amber Malagic of North Palm Beach, FL. She was blessed with ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Tiz is and always will be loved and missed. She was our warrior. A private gathering of friends and family is planned for the fall.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnmpfh.com for the Holmes family.
