

Eloise Kay Simmons, a cherished resident of the Golden Triangle, passed away on March 18, 2024, at Bonne Vie. She was born on March 29,1944, in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, to Louis and Faye Buhrow.
Eloise was a steadfast member of her community, finding solace and joy in the Sunday services at First United Methodist Church of Groves. With a heart as expansive as her smile, she touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime.
Her passions were as diverse as they were beautiful. Eloise found immense pleasure in the art of sewing and crochet, creating pieces that were not just functional but also works of art. Her talent extended to the kitchen, where she adorned cakes with intricate designs, bringing delight to those fortunate enough to taste her creations. A voracious reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of her favorite novels.
Eloise's love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her children and grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She shared a special bond with each of them, and her love will forever resonate in their hearts. Her profound connection to the animal kingdom was a defining feature of her character, permeating every aspect of her life with a radiant warmth and empathy. Whether tending to the needs of her cherished pets or extending a helping hand to strays in need, she exemplified the true essence of kindness and generosity. Her home was a sanctuary for creatures great and small, where love and care knew no bounds.
Throughout her remarkable career spanning over 30 years, Eloise dedicated herself to serving others as a Nursing Staffing Coordinator at St. Mary's, where her unwavering commitment and tireless efforts made a profound impact on the healthcare community. Her role was not merely a job but a calling—a testament to her selflessness and dedication to the well-being of others.
In her leisure time, Eloise found peace surrounded by the beauty of lilacs, her favorite flowers, mirroring her beloved hue of purple.
Eloise is survived by her daughters, Holly Jordan (Josh Jordan) of Houston, Shannon Simmons of Nederland, Tiffany Beaty (Mark Beaty) of Port Neches, Jennifer Simmons of Nederland, Kelli Thomas (Jeff Thomas) of Montgomery, and her son, Mark Simmons of Silsbee. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Crogan (Jeff Crogan) of Marietta, Georgia, along with numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her persian cat Ginger, who her children came together one year to surprise her with her dream feline, and her pug Finn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Faye Buhrow, her sister Janice Hall, and her brother Stephen Buhrow.
Eloise will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her boundless love, and the legacy of compassion she leaves behind. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. In her memory, let us honor her legacy by continuing to cherish and protect the precious lives that she held so dear.
