Florence grew up in China and graduated from China High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Monroe's Answering Service. She was also a homemaker and spent a large portion of her time taking care of her children, cooking meals, and cleaning house. She loved to sew and made most of her clothing herself. Florence was a devout Catholic and strongly spiritual woman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always had a happy go lucky attitude and wanted to bring joy to those around her.
Florence is survived by her son Aubrey Bratcher and spouse Clemmie; her daughter Peggy and spouse B.J.; and her sister Shirley Benson.
Florence was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Dudley Bratcher and Pierre LaPoint; her father Robert Bruce and her mother Cecille Kershaw Bruce; her brother Roman Bruce.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Florence will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, followed by a Celebration of Florence's Life at 2:00 PM. Florence will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Faith.
