Francis A. “Buddy” Guidry beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, businessman, and friend to many, completed his earthly journey and began his new life on November 3, 2012 at the age of 79 at his home in Silsbee, Texas.
Buddy was born in Arnaudville, Louisiana on November 14, 1932 to George and Regina Guidry and had seven siblings. After attending the local Catholic school, he served honorably as a Paratrooper in the US Army with the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and he also served in the US Air Force at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. Following his service he held many sales jobs across the country and owned many businesses over the years. Locally, Buddy owned and operated Triangle Discount Motors in Silsbee, Texas for more than 30 years where his customers loved and adored him. He loved his customers and community dearly and even worked the day he passed. He was also a committed parishioner of St Marks Catholic Church where he was a founding charter member and 4th Degree Knight of the church’s Knights of Columbus Council.
He is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Bonnie Guidry of Silsbee, Texas. His three sons, Stephen and wife Deanna of Richland Hills, Texas; Jean Paul Guidry and wife Judy of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Jacques and wife Rita of Silsbee, Texas. His three daughters, Barbara and husband Calvin Taylor of Silsbee, Texas; Denise and husband Byron Sheard of Silsbee, Texas; and Desiree Guidry of Silsbee, Texas; three siblings; brothers, George Guidry and wife Joyce of Vidor, Texas; Cecil Guidry of Vidor, Texas and sister Laura Stoute of Beaumont, Texas. He had fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Buddy was lovingly known to his grandchildren as “Paw Paw Coconut”.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
