I was Bucky's schoolmate in BowieJr. High and French High School. We graduated together. I have not been in touch with Bucky since about 1964 because I finished Lamar and moved away into the US Navy and then lived in many places but never returned to Beaumont except to visit parents and friends. However, I lost touch with Bucky when I left Lamar and never reconnected with him after that. I regret that mightily. I thought of him from time to time. We were good friends in school. He played cello and I played violin in school orchestra. He was a pretty good basketball player too.

Bucky was a really nice person, fun to be around, and I'm sure he grew into a fine man. I am so glad to have known and spent time with Bucky during my school years, growing up. Bucky was a good school friend... we spent many hours together in our younger years. and used to play together after school since we lived pretty close to each other.

I offer my deepest sympathy to Sandra, and to his family and extended family.

May God rest his soul...and may God give all of you peace in your loving remembrance of him and the life he lived.

Kind Regards to you all,
Jim Ricks

Seven years ago, my friend Amy invited me to spend Christmas with her and her family, as my family were back East.
Mr. and Mrs. Mauer were so gracious and fun! I loved spending that special time, and many others, with the Mauer family.
At one point, my little dog Kona escaped the house and ran off.
Mr. Mauer offered a reward to put on the signs we posted around the community and sure enough, he was found. He had a great heart and was very generous. I owe him a debt of gratitude for that kind gesture.
Rest in peace, I'll keep an eye on Amy for you! 💙

I got to know George over the last several years when my son Micah married Amy. I came to admire him as a person and friend. I remember one trip we had to Texas to visit and George and I got to spend sometime together. I feel like that conversation helped me and him understand each other better. The main topic we came to realize was that family was the most important thing to us. He was a loving and adored father and husband. God grant the family peace and comfort in this time of grieving.
