Services celebrating the life of James Fred "Jimmy" Stephens will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday December 4, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas. The services will be conducted by the Reverend Richard Coward. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
Jimmy passed away November 28, 2016 and was a longtime resident of Clairmont Nursing Home in Beaumont. This is a beautiful heavenly homecoming for Jimmy and his parents, J.W. and Gladys Stephens who preceded him.
Jimmy was born on August 5, 1941 in Beaumont where he spent his entire life. Even though he was born with Cerebral Palsy, he lived an active and fruitful life. His mother taught him the love of books and reading to the point that he operated a Christian book store out of their home for many years. Jimmy was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont where he served as Deacon along side his father. He and his dad were avid sports fans, particularly LSU Tiger fans. Jimmy will carry his favorite LSU shirt to heaven with him. He and his dad along with many friends, spent many happy days fishing on Toledo Bend Lake. Jimmy was also known for his domino and checker skills.
The Family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the dedicated and compassionate care given to Jimmy by the nurses and staff at Clairmont Nursing Home. Jimmy is survived by several cousins and life-long friends. His contagious smile will forever be missed.
