Joan Lee Vanover, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Born on August 23, 1941, in Beaumont, Texas, Joan was the only child of Howell and Alline Holley.
Joan was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 50 years, Van Vanover; her daughter, Shanna Ward; and her parents, Howell and Alline Holley. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughters Robyn Busceme and her husband Mark of Sour Lake, Texas, and Shelley Sutton and her husband Charles of Manvel, Texas. She was a proud grandmother to Ty Reimer (wife Kelsey), Holley Moreau (husband Cory), Cody Sanders, Shelby Butler (husband Bryan), Karley Harris (wife Lauren), Hayden McDonald, Mark Busceme II, (wife Nancy), John Busceme, Blake Busceme, and 15 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
From a young age, Joan nurtured a deep love of horses, a passion she lovingly passed on to her daughters. A talented artist, she expressed her creativity through painting, flower arranging, cake decorating, and jewelry making. Joan also had a flair for cooking, often sharing her delicious creations with family and friends. Known for her keen eye for bargains, she was an enthusiastic thrift shopper.
Joan’s professional life was marked by her dedication and compassion. She served as an assistant to Dr. Phillip Weisbach for over 20 years and later enriched the lives of many as an activities director at Collier Park for 10 years. Above all, she cherished her role as a homemaker, where she created a warm and loving environment for her family.
Joan Lee Vanover’s warmth, creativity, and loving spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and community.
A memorial service will be held to honor Joan’s life. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
Pallbearers include Ty Reimer, Cody Sanders, Cory Moreau, Bryan Butler, John Busceme, Ethan Reimer and Honorary Pallbearer Mark Busceme II.
