

Joe Fredric “Fred” Hamilton, age 75 passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Beaumont, TX. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Brother John Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 and 10:00 – 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Fred was born in Newton, Texas on October 14, 1938 to John Fred and Faye Hamilton. He served in the United States Army for 3 years and then retired after serving 20 years from the United States Navy on July 19, 1976. During his time with the Navy he served aboard the USS Hancock CVA-19, the USS Oriskany CVA 34 while in Vietnam and later finished his career as an Air Traffic Controller at USNAS in Kingsville, Texas. Fred was a lifelong member of VFW Post 8246 in Vidor, Texas. After retirement, he became a truck driver and enjoyed. He loved motorcycling, fishing, hunting and scuba diving when he could get the opportunity to go.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Joe Fredric “Fred” Hamilton, Jr., who passed away on October 20, 2010.
Survivors include his loving wife, Roberta Lee “Bobbie” Hamilton. A son, John William Hamilton and a daughter Gladys Fay Hamilton. One brother, Ronald Hamilton. Fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren
