

Rev. John Gary Becton, of Lumberton, TX passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 11, 1947, in Little Rock, AR to the late John M. and Ordell Virginia Corbin Becton.
Gary was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Mack Becton;
his SIL, Cindy Becton; his mother and father-in-law, Roy & Ora Elledge and his grandparents, Jim & Christine Becton and Herschel and Rellie Corbin.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Glenda Joy
Elledge Becton; two sons , John Gary Becton II (Connie) of Lumberton, TX and Jerry Philip Becton (Daveen) of Coffeyville, Kansas. Grandchildren, Gary Scott Becton, James Mitchell Becton, USN, Annie May Becton Murphy (Clinton), John Alexander Becton (Savannah), Philip Beau Becton, USAF, Lacy Miller (Nathan), and Jadin Gayle Becton; great-grandchildren, Charlie John Becton, Carlisle Riley Murphy, Callum Philip Murphy, Josianna Rae Becton, John Maverick Becton, Lane Miller, and Everly Miller.
Gary is also survived by a sister, Jane Hill (David) of Magnolia, AR,
brothers, David Becton (Gloria) of Shreveport, LA, and Jim Becton (Pam) of Omaha, TX., and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary is a graduate of Texas Bible College. He was an Apostolic
Pentecostal minister for 55 years before retiring due to illness. Gary retired as Pastor Emeritus of First Apostolic Church in Magnolia, AR in 2020 and moved to be near his son in Lumberton, TX. When able he attended The Apostolic Church of Beaumont, Texas and The Sanctuary of Lumberton, and enjoyed the online services weekly.
Gary was an Assistant Pastor in Houston, TX and in Port Arthur, TX, before evangelizing in churches all over the United States and Canada. He pastored churches in Arkansas; Kansas; Texas; Louisiana and his final pastorate at First Apostolic Church, Magnolia, Arkansas where he retired as Pastor Emeritus.
Gary was baptized in Jesus Name when he was 8 years old by Rev. E. E. McNatt in Memphis, Tennessee. He received the Holy Ghost
in 1964 at the Arkansas Youth Camp in Redfield, AR.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park Beaumont, TX and Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home of Sulphur, LA., Both Dignity Memorial Providers.
A private family and friends viewing was held at each place.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Gary’s wonderful, extraordinary, well lived life will be held May 30 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel, Magnolia, Arkansas. - Visitation at 10 am and Memorial Service at 11 am.
