Juan came to the United States from Mexico when he was 16 years old and lived in California for many years. He traveled back to his home state of Nayarit, when he was in his 20s, and met his wife Simona. The couple moved back to California and started a family.
Juan was an avid hunter and loved camping. His passion was agriculture and he had a real "green thumb". His family remembers that he was also a great story teller and always exaggerated his hunting excursions. He loved his family and spending time with them was his greatest joy. Moving often as a farm worker, he planted strawberry patches wherever they lived for his children and grandchildren to enjoy. He was known to be strong-willed and hard-headed...what he said, went. He also raised farm animals, but roosters were his passion.
Juan was preceded in death by his wife Simona Salazar; his father Juan Salazar and his mother Maria Blancarte; his brothers Candido Salazar and Emidio Salazar; his sisters, Maria Salazar, Ursula Salazar, Antonia Salazar, Maria Jesus Salazar, Lucy Salazar, Ramona Salazar and Rosa Salazar and his grandson John John Salazar.
Juan is survived by his sons, John Salazar and his wife Sylvia and Frankie Salazar; and his daughter Rosa Flores and her husband Gustavo; his grandchildren, Chris Williams, Jacob Williams, Isaiah Rodriguez, Clarissa Flores, Simon Flores, Veronica Madera and her husband Luis and Annie Salazar.
Juan will also be lovingly remembered by 9 great-grandchildren
