

Born in 1930 at her grandmother's home in Houston, TX to parents,
Clifford N. Miller,Sr. and Edith I Miller(Ehler), she spent her formative years near
the pipeline pumping station(Darst Creek, TX) where her father was superintendent.
Later the family relocated to Houston and she graduated from Lamar High School in 1948.
She attended Texas Lutheran College (Seguin, TX) before marrying H.W."Bill" Hoce in 1952. After his death in 1975, she met and married Rufus E.Martin,Jr.in 1987. Over the years, she was an active member of Vidor Presbyterian Church; Old Faith Chapel, Vidor and Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, Beaumont. She was a resident of the Vidor/Beaumont area for almost 65 years. After the death of Rufus in 2015, her latter years were spent in Oro Valley, AZ.
Nita was an avid reader. She had a talent for reading aloud to children and told many stories of her untrammeled childhood near the Guadalupe River.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and brother and sister-in-law, C. N. Miller, Jr/Ermine “Becky” Hatfield Miller.
Survivors include her children/ step-children: Robin(Sam)Colburn; Charles Hoce II; Janice Grossheim; David(Patrizia) Martin; Linda (Kenny) Moncla;; Barbara(Jim) Raymond.11 grandchildren/step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church,Tuesday, 8-8-23 at 11 AM. A private interment will be held later at Forest Lawn Memorial Park
