Judith Marie (Judy) Murillo was born May 17, 1944 to Hazel Feazell Penna and Frank Anthony Penna in Liberty, Texas.

She graduated from French High School in Beaumont TX. Judy married the love of her life, Benjamin Murillo, in 1970. She and her two sons, Wendell and Carlton, joined families with Ben and his two children Victoria and Benjamin Jesse Murillo. Judy later went to work as an insurance agent for Members Insurance in Port Neches, Texas for many years until her retirement. She and Ben loved to travel and ski. They took their family on many cultural adventures. Family was of the utmost importance to Judy. She was a breast cancer survivor and active member of her breast cancer support and breast cancer survivors groups. She volunteered her time at the United Board of Missions in Port Arthur, Texas for many years. She enjoyed cleaning up and sorting all of the toys. She sewed blankets for all of the dolls that would be handed out to children. Judy never had a cross word for anyone. She loved everyone. Judy loved nature, especially birds and flowers. Most of all, she adored her family. Her favorite role was that of a wife, mother and MawMaw. Judy always put everyone’s needs above her own, truly a selfless person.

Judy has been in my life since the age of 10 when my father Ben and her married. It has been 50 years now and I love Judy as my own mother and will miss her very deeply. She is now with Dad in Heaven with our Lord.

I was blessed to know Judy because her mother, my dear Aunt Hazel, was my grandmother’s sister. I will always remember Judy’s kind, gentle way and her beautiful smile. I can’t even imagine her without a smile on her face. Even though we didn’t see each other often, I loved her and looked up her. My other favorite memory is a little silly, but for some reason I always loved how she said “Aunt Ancel” when speaking to my grandmother because her accent was different than ours. To this day, I can hear hear her voice, and it makes me smile. I know she is missed by all, and my heart is with you.
