Funeral services for Justine Chaney Tinkle of Beaumont – Winnie, Texas will be held as follows; a visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday January 27th, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Pine Street in Beaumont, Texas, with graveside service on Friday January 28th at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont.
A native of Leesville, Louisiana, Justine was born June 2, 1935 to Mamie Lee Chaney and Joseph Leander Chaney. Justine spent her early childhood years in the small community of Survey, just north of Burkeville, Texas before her family moved to the “Big City” of Beaumont, Texas.
Justine attended most of her school-age years in Beaumont, ultimately graduating from French High School. There, Justine was a cheerleader and beauty queen and was very involved with the Proud Buffalo Lifestyle of the 1950’s. Justine would go on to marry her High School sweetheart “Larry Tinkle.”
While still in High School, Justine and Larry worked at her soon-to-be father-in-law’s hardware store (Jacks Hardware). Unbeknownst to them at the time, working for Jack Tinkle would give them the building blocks and work ethic to become very successful business owners themselves (Larry’s True Value Hardware and Feed Store – Beaumont; Larry’s Antique Mall & Flea Market – Beaumont; Larry Tinkle Sandpit – Vidor; Larry Tinkle Properties – Beaumont; and Larry’s Old Time Trade Days - Winne).
Justine always had an infectious smile. This helped her out many times when she needed someone to hang pictures, baskets, boxes and shore birds, or to move the heaviest pieces of furniture ever built. She had a passion for collecting and decorating, whether it be the annual over-the-top Christmas Tree with 2000+ wrapped present boxes (Larry’s Antique Mall circa 1980’s), or the public bathrooms at Old Time Trade Days in Winnie. It was always First Class and Hallmark picture worthy.
Justine leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Larry; her son Larry (Rip) Tinkle, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Winnie, Texas; granddaughter Stephanie Brumley and her husband Jamy of Buna, Texas; grandson Scott Tinkle and his wife Heather of Winnie, Texas; and great grandkids Preslie Brumley, Joyanna Brumley, Jack Casen Brumley, Jayleigh Brumley, Gage Brumley, McKenzie Tinkle, and Karter Tinkle.
Justine also leaves behind a host of other friends and family members including sisters, Larue Greenwood of Woodville, Texas; Helen Clawson of Vidor, Texas; and her favorite nephew, Lee Lowery of Waxahachie, Texas; and, last but not least, daughter-In-law & Care Giver, Billye Tinkle of Winnie.
Justine is preceded in death by her mother and father; twin sister, Ernestine Lowery; younger sister, Clara Bell Williams; and brother Joe Frank Chaney.
