Born on March 20, 1948 in McAllen, Texas, his family moved to Beaumont where he grew up and made many friends. Larry attended schools in South Park and graduated from South Park High School where he excelled in track and baseball before graduating with the proud class of 1966. After graduation he entered the workforce as an apprentice electrician and quickly was licensed as a journeyman. His career works touched the clouds in New York, gave electric life to almost every major refinery in South East Texas, but most of all his contributions to each person he loved as he raised, coached, or guided them to be the best people he could. His favorite quote is, “Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness” and as iron sharpens iron, that concept was instilled in every heart he touched. He served the people he loved with a steadfast loyalty that is a rare bright light in a lost world.
We are called to be fishers of men, and though he spent many Sundays cutting grass on the ballfields, driving his ballplayers to cities all over Texas, and riding with his few 1% brothers, God used him as a bait to show agape love to people in all aspects of life. He was a legend, an icon, a rock that many used to build a variety of strong foundations in their lives. To his family he served as Ol’ Man, Dad, Pawpaw, Son, Uncle, and Brother and his legacy of strength flows through all of us down to his most precious great grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Randall L. Morrison and Gertrude Tula Morrison, as well as his great grandchild, Priscilla Trousdale. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cindy Edwards Morrison, his brother Randy Morrison, Jr. (Darla), and his sister Martha Morrison Leo (Leo Jr). Also left to cherish his memory are his children, Tiffanie Rachelle Harris (Mike), Shelly Renee Kapela (William), Kelly Jean Lanier-Karl (Sean), Lee Harley Morrison, Jack Dylan Morrison (Kristen), and Joel Wagstaff. He will be most missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who felt the fullness and fierceness of his love the most: Hannah Mae Simmons, Mitchell Simmons, Miranda Banks, Aaron Watson, Christian Labberton, Luke Watson, Ashleigh Wagstaff, Audrey Wagstaff, Travis Wagstaff, Allison Wagstaff, Gage Harley Morrison, Harley Morrison, and Cooper Morrison. Great grandchildren Everleigh Martin, Charlotte Willett, Zinnia Partida and Frankie Junior Partida. He had a particularly closeness to his nieces and nephews Rodney Morrison, Christopher Morrison, (Little) Randy Morrison III, and Lori Jeanne Leo Gerlach.
