Laverne Smith

Laverne was born in Rusk, Texas on November 3, 1936 to the late Burley and Vera Cornelison.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker including an excellent cook who loved people & enjoyed gathering with family and friends. She had a generous way about brightening the spirit of others. She will be most remembered for her opinionated and very strong will with a contagious inspirational smile.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Reggie Smith and (wife) Wren of Lake Charles, Rick Smith of Cortland New York; one sister, Billie Lindsey and (husband) Jimmy; grandchildren; great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and her extended family & friends in Cortland New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Arthur Smith; parents, Burley & Vera Cornelison; sister, Mary Smith

Pallbearers will be Josh Abshire, Mark Smith, Aaron Bowman, Allen Bowman, Jimmy Lindsey and

Matt Young.

AKA: Mom, Momma Vern, Aunt Vern, Grand Maw, Mrs. Smitty, Honey, Snow bird etc.

We know you are passing over into the wonderful stage of life joining God almighty and Dad. We miss you deeply, but we will never forget you.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given to their beloved mother her special angels at the Cortland Memorial Hospital & Cortland Park Rehabilitation.

Services will be at 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be two hours (12:30 pm -2:30pm) prior to the service.
