Mary Louise Gutierrez, 84, of Vidor, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Vidor, Mary was a retired custodian with Vidor Independent School District at the High School Campus. Mary grew up in Rose City and attended Vidor Elementary, Vidor Middle Schools.
Mary was a Great Mom, Loving Mother (Best Mother), made the Best Homemade Tortillas ever, and was A Great Cook!! Mary quit school in the 6th grade along with her sisters to help take care of her mom that was going blind! As sisters growing up, they only had 1 bike and had to take turns riding it! She loved flowers, people, and singing with her 2 sisters.
A Celebration of Mary's Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 12:00p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the funeral home.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Maria Ramirez Galaviz, her 2 brothers, Joseph Galaviz, and Braulio Galaviz, and her grandson Brandon Gutierrez. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, who will greatly miss her Raymond Gutierrez of Rose City, her sons, Juan Gutierrez and his wife Sheree' Leblanc Gutierrez, Jaime Gutierrez and his wife Lori Ann Jordan Gutierrez, and Jesus Gutierrez and his wife Jaime Howard Gutierrez, her 2 sisters, Juanita Galaviz Cardenas of Rose City, and Delores Galaviz Becerra of Baytown, her grandchildren, Ashlea Ann Gutierrez-McKinney, and Jaime Dean Gutierrez, eight extended grandchildren, and 12 extended great grandchildren.
The Gutierrez family would like to thank Alice Cardenas for years of being the Gutierrez life line and the daughter they never had, Alice & Belinda McGee & Helen Ford for taking care of Mary the last months of her life and their 24-7 care, Ms. Amparo Rivera for being so sweet to bring food & laughter on each visit, and Amanda Flanigan for taking care of her hair and makeup.
Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
