Mary Sue Wheeler

Mary Sue Wheeler, 86, of Hemphill, Texas and former sixty-five plus year resident of Beaumont passed away on Sunday September 11, 2016 in Hemphill. Mary was born on May 19, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana to her parents Sylvester and Nellie Hood Hedges Sr., who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters. Mary was a Baptist by faith and a homemaker who enjoyed watching television especially “Days of Our Lives”, various sporting events, cooking, and spending quality time with all of the family.

Mary is survived by loving husband of sixty-eight years; John I. Wheeler of Beaumont, son; Gerald Wayne Wheeler and wife Betty of Beaumont, daughter; Brenda Williams and husband David of Hemphill, brother; Sylvester “Sonny” Hedges, Jr. and wife Norma of Carriere, Mississippi, sister; Bobbie Hedges Rains and husband Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana, four grandchildren; Stacey Wheeler Fischer and husband James, Molley Wheeler, Kristi Berryman and husband Jason, Jamie Stowers and husband Steven, six great grandchildren; Lauren Soileau and husband Todd, Ivy Wheeler, Camp Berryman, Caroline Berryman, Sam Stowers, Nellie Stowers, three great great grandchildren; Cason Tate Speers, Tucker Logan Soileau, and Beckham Trace Soileau.

Visitation will be held on Thursday September 15, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service time of 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
