Mary Elizabeth Young, 71, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at her residence. A native of Coushatta, LA., she lived for 20 years in Crystal Beach, and 5 years in Beaumont before moving to Lumberton 5 months ago. Mary enjoyed reading, walking on the beach, gardening, and being active with her sons by being team mom, and den mother. Mary was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont.
A Celebration of Mary's Life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Iria Thomas, and her sister Charlotte Thomas.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 40+ years Bennie B. Young, Jr. of Lumberton, sons Michael T. Landry and his wife Jennifer of Beaumont, Ryan R. Landry and his wife Serena of Lumberton, brother Marvin Thomas, Jr of Louisiana, sister Martha Ann Thomas of Hemphill, and by her grandchildren Benjamin, Olivia, Samuel, Sara, and other step grandchildren.
Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
