Patra "Pat" Edds Alpers

Patra “Pat” Edds Alpers, of Beaumont, died on Wednesday April 9, 2014. She was born March 30, 1923 to Arthur Leslie Self and Maudie Marie Cooper Self in Lilbert, Texas. She and her family moved to Meeker in 1939, where she helped on her father’s dairy farm. She later met and married C. Gus Edds of Beaumont, they had one son, Connie Wayne. She was very supportive of family and friends, and could always be counted on for help. You couldn’t ask for a better friend. Mr. Edds passed away in 1981. During the 80’s she ran the Voth Rural Station post office as postmaster, where she met, and later married Sidney Alpers, who also preceded her in death, along with her parents, a brother L.L. Self, sisters Barbara Higginbotham and Theresa Self. She is survived by her son, Connie Wayne Edds and wife Teddy, granddaughter Sally Palculict and husband Kent, and two great grandchildren, Hudson and Ella; two sisters, Thelma Kelly of Chicago, and Vyonne “Pete” Dearbonne and husband Bill of Meeker. Along with a number of nieces and nephews, Sidney “Skipper” Alpers and wife Kay, and children Matt and Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held on Saturday April 12, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday April 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
