

Peggy was born on August 14, 1939 in Port Arthur, Texas to Henry Walter and Lois Elizabeth Pace. She was the oldest of three daughters, followed by Janis Sage-Evans and Cheryl Broussard (1948-2004). Peggy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957 and Lamar University in 1961. She lived in Bryan for a short time, then returned to Port Arthur where she married Lewis Wilkinson in 1962. They had two daughters, Paige Wilkinson Arnold and Julie Wilkinson Dougher before his death in 1964. She married Gerald Joseph Barras in 1972 and they had two children, Michelle Renee Barras and Kristopher Rhett Barras. She is preceded in death by Lewis Wilkinson and Gerald Barras. She moved from Port Arthur to Sour Lake in 1975 where she and Gerald raised their four children.
Peggy loved traveling, playing tennis, stained glass designing, reading, stamping and card-making. Her family and friends always loved receiving her unique handmade cards in the mail for all occasions. She touched the lives of many as a substitute teacher in Warren ISD for 10 years. She attended First Baptist Church in Bevil Oaks where she was a member since 1976. She loved traveling to see her children and grandchildren. Peggy would spend summers with Paige Arnold of Richmond along with her grandchildren Alex Arnold and Amy Arnold Turnbull-Hardt and husband David, Julie Dougher and husband Tim Dougher of Houston with grandchildren Lewis, Caroline, and Clinton Dougher, Michelle Barras of Houston, and Kristopher Barras and wife Carrie Evans-Barras of Deer Park with grandchildren Kayla and Carson Barras. She will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life for Peggy will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703. Peggy will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, TX
