

Roberta Lee Hamilton, 85, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on June 24, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to the late William and Gladys McCandless. Roberta made her home in Beaumont for many years, after her and her husband lived in several different states due to being a military family. She built a life centered on family, friendship, and community.
Roberta was proud to be a South Park Greenie and graduated from South Park High School in 1958. The friendships and memories she made during those years remained meaningful to her throughout her life. Following high school, Roberta built a career as a bookkeeper with Finger Furniture, where she worked for many years. She was known for her dedication, attention to detail, and the reliability she brought to her work each day.
Family was always at the heart of Roberta’s life. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Whether it was sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, Roberta valued the time spent with those she loved most. Her steady presence, kindness, and devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Fred Hamilton, Sr.; her sons, Joe Hamilton, Jr. and John William Hamilton; her parents, William and Gladys McCandless; and her brother, Buddy Lee McCandless.
She is survived by her daughter, Fay Hamilton Escribano and her husband Joe of Round Rock, Texas; her grandchildren, Kasie Storm Strange Long and her husband Michael Long of Caldwell, Ohio, Kassidie Rein Strange of Austin, Texas, Justin Hamilton and his wife Kanda of Lumberton, Texas, Hana Hamilton Carlson and her husband Joah of St. Paul, Minnesota, Ali Hamilton of Avondale, Arizona, Brandell Hamilton Lindsey of Nederland, Texas, Kristopher Hamilton of Texla, Texas, Christopher Taylor Hamilton of Kountze, Texas. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Landon Ty Kosh, Beckett Hamilton, Vesper Hamilton, Evelyn Hamilton, Evangeline Carlson, and Ansel Carlson, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Roberta’s life was defined by her love for her family and the care she showed to those around her. Her memory will continue to live on in the lives of the many people she touched.
