Ray Posey, 78, of Burleson, Texas, passed away on June 29, 2025, after an extended illness.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on June 18, 1947, Ray was the son of Mary Quinton Posey and Roy Ray Posey Sr. He was a graduate of South Park High School’s Class of 1966 and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Beaumont, where he met the love of his life, Judy Yancey. The two were married and went on to share 55 years together, raising two children, Christopher Jake and Christina Shannon.
In 1979, Ray and his family moved to Lumberton, Texas, where they built a home and life together for 38 years. A dedicated and respected member of IBEW Local 479 for 57 years, at the time of his retirement Ray was an independent contractor with Total Petrochemical in Port Arthur.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Posey; brothers, Gary and Rodney Posey; father-in-law, James Yancey; and brothers-in-law, Michael and William Yancey.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; son, Jake Posey and wife Merrick of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Shannon Mitchell and husband Paul of Burleson, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren: Cole, Molly, Whit, and Madeline Posey, and Jonah, Caleb, and Noah Mitchell. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Peggy Yancey, as well as many dear extended family members and friends.
Ray will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to his work and family, and a life lived with enduring love and faith.
